About TagCanyon

TagCanyon turns state wildlife agencies' own draw reports into plain draw odds for hunters in Texas, Colorado, Wyoming and Montana: every hunt, every point level, resident and nonresident, with the deadline next to it.

Why it exists

Draw results are public, but they sit in long PDF reports and search tools that are hard to compare year to year. We read those reports, put each hunt on its own page, and add the two things the reports do not: a resident-first view and a labeled next-year estimate.

Where the data comes from

  • Texas: Texas Parks and Wildlife Department drawn hunt catalog and prior-season applicant counts.
  • Colorado: Colorado Parks and Wildlife primary Draw Recap reports, 2023 to 2026.
  • Wyoming: Wyoming Game and Fish Department demand reports, 2023 to 2026.
  • Montana: Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks drawing statistics reports, 2023 to 2026.

Each publication is downloaded once per release by a script that identifies itself with our contact address, parsed into our own tables, and checked against the agency's own totals. We do not copy other draw-odds sites, and we do not use logged-in agency systems or personal data.

How the numbers are built

Odds are the agency's published draws divided by published applicants. Forecasts are trend lines from four years of results, labeled as estimates on every page; see how we forecast point creep and the Montana points explainer.

Update cadence

Pages rebuild when an agency posts new results or dates: Western draw results each spring and summer, the Texas catalog each July. Every page shows when it was built.

Independence

TagCanyon is not affiliated with any state agency. Advertising and affiliate relationships never change the odds or data (affiliate disclosure). Corrections and questions: Hello@TagCanyon.com (contact page). Our data downloader identifies itself with this address too.
